I just discovered a fabulous new book. The New Rules of Lifting for Women by Lou Schuler with Cassandra Forsythe, and workout programs by Alwyn Cosgrove.
I stumbled on this while passing by an isle at Borders. It was sheer coincidence and now I believe synchronicity! This book resonates so completely with what I have been saying about strength training vs. the ineffective (and often harmful) aerobic activities.
The heart is a muscle just like all of our other muscles and must be trained in the same way. Interval training does this for the heart.
The workout program is detailed and takes about 6 months to complete the initial 7 stages. I am starting tomorrow and I can't wait!
As I am also a certified wellness coach, I have struggled with clients in the area of fitness and exercise as most of the literature still promotes the so-called "fat-burning cardio." I can't wait to offer this to some of my clients as an option.
The nutrition component of the book basically has you eating "clean." This term has been around for a while now and you may be familiar. The simplest way to describe this is to eat whole foods - balancing carbs/protein/fat. The book provides details.
I'll be posting my experience of this over the next 6 months - so please stay tuned and and provide always-welcome comments!
Coaching inquiry: What is your vision of your highest self - spiritually, emotionally, physically? When we truly discover our deep-felt values about yourselves, we can more easily move toward our higher selves.
Coaching is a great tool to help one discover what it is they truly believe and what will really provide them fulfillment. If you would like some help in your journey, please email me!
